Hey, look! Neil Cicierega, a famous man of the Internet, has written a song about Gef, the talking mongoose. He has not appeared in the comic yet, but Gef is going to be a major supporting character in Dalton.
I was digging through an old scrapbook and came across this bristol board with an old sketch of Dalton on it:
Judging from the dates of the last stuff thrown into the scrapbook and the style of the drawing, I'm guessing it's from 2005 or maybe even 2004, early in Dalton's development as a character. Since I drew it on bristol board, I clearly intended to finish, ink, and probably watercolor it like a Victorian children's book illustration. In fact, I think within the character's "canon," that's what this was intended to be: a scene from a picture book he appeared in.
A month later, and still no better on my part. These have been busy times, plagued with things like illness and travel and illness during travel. Terrible excuses, I know, and more terrible excuses are coming your way: namely that I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month this year and consequently already tiring days become even more tiring, and thus are my creative impulses exhausted.
I know you all have lost hope in me. I am deeply ashamed. As a consolation, here is a sneak peek of page 3:
Guess what? I finally got around to working on this comic. There might be (read: are) some kinks to work out with the site navigation and archive systems, and I'll try to improve those as we go along. I can't fix anything until I have some comics up, though. Priorities!
Updates will be pretty sporadic until I really get into my groove, so I strongly suggest using the RSS feed for the comic. Put it in your Google Reader or your Firefox or your Safari or whatever you use to read feeds. Marvel at the convenience of it! Imagine: COMICS, delivered to YOUR COMPUTER in the PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME, for FREE.
The blog feed will be restricted to tidbits, footnotes, commentary, announcements, that sort of thing.
Please enjoy my first real foray into the world of making comics all by myself. By all means, let me know if you like them!
